President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Jubilee party has been dealt a blow after senate speaker Ken Lusaka decamped to Moses Wetangula’s Ford Kenya party.
This means that Lusaka has joined Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza Alliance which Ford Kenya is a member. Lusaka will likely be the Ford Kenya flag bearer in the Bungoma gubernatorial race.
Lusaka lost elections to governor Wamangati in 2017, this was after he fell out with Wetangula whose party sponsored him in 2013 when he became the first Bungoma governor.
Wamangati has ditched Ford Kenya for Wamalwa’s Democratic Action party which is expected to be his political vehicle as he defends his seat in the forthcoming general elections.
The race will be Azimio La Umoja again Kenya Kwanza, however, it is not yet a dome deal for Lusaka as local leaders including Kimilili constituency member of Parliament Didmus Barasa and his Sirisia counterpart John Waluke warned Wetangula against imposing a leader on them, they claimed that Lusaka already served as governor and there was no development.
